Fresh venues, brew news, foodie freebies and a big old dose of community spirit to keep you going this July

What’s been going down

Get behind your brew bro

Coffee community assemble: it’s time help a brew brother out. Joe Meagher of Flat Caps Coffee in Newcastle has launched a KickStarter project to raise funds for a second coffee shop in the city. Get behind another top notch speciality spot here.

Part-time barista, full-time coffee geek

Yay Coffee! in Scarborough is looking for a part-time barista and full-time coffee geek to join its lively team. Think you’re up to the job? Email your CV (and your mad barista skills) to Lottie at hello@yaycoffee.com

Mad for Mokoko

Heading to Bristol soon? You’ll want to add another entry to the back of your South West Guide as Mokoko‘s new venture on the city’s Wapping Wharf is now open. After you’ve browsed the intriguing roaster offering, make sure to hit the bakery for a sweet treat to keep your coffee company.

Foodie freebie

Everyone loves a freebie, right? Make sure to grab a Soderberg lunch loyalty card next time you’re chowing down at the Queensferry Street venue in Edinburgh and bag yourself a free lunch on your 10th visit. #win

New website for North Star

Put your procrastination to good use and check out North Star Coffee‘s brand new website. Stacked with speciality info on processing, origins and varietals, it’ll probably be more useful than watching that video of the cat playing the piano again.

Virunga Coffee Project

Schluter’s project in DRC, Virunga Coffee, has promoted top quality and better livelihoods in the region. From its wet mills in Kahondo, Katanda and Kavisa, and with organic farmers that have been trained and certified, Schluter will soon have some exceptional Kivu coffees landing in the UK. Want to try it? Here‘s the contact details for samples.
