1. Boil + grind
Bring the water to the boil and weigh the coffee. Grind it to a texture slightly finer than sea salt.
2. Filter
Insert a paper filter into the detachable plastic cap. Wet the filter and cap with hot water.
3. Assemble
Put the AeroPress together.
4. Weigh
Place the AeroPress on the scales with the flared end up, then tare the weight.
5. Add coffee + water
Add the ground coffee, being careful not to spill any into the ring-shaped gutter at the top of the AeroPress. Start a timer. Add twice the weight of water to grounds (e.g. for 16g coffee, add 32ml water). The water should be about 80-85°C.
6. Bloom pour
Make sure the coffee is saturated evenly, tamping slightly if necessary. Let it sit for 30 seconds.
7. Fill the Chamber
Use the remainder of the hot water to fill the chamber. After 1 minute, stir the grounds 10 times to agitate.
8. Appy pressure
Fasten the cap, ensuring it locks into the grooves tightly. Flip the whole assembly over with control. Position it on top of your brew vessel and apply downward pressure. If the pushing is too easy, the grind is too coarse; if it’s very hard to push, the grind is too fine. The coffee is fully brewed once it begins to make a hissing sound.
